North was born in 1997 with the opening of the legendary North Bar, which is widely regarded as the “first craft beer bar in Britain”, and influenced a new wave of modern beer bars and breweries. After opening more bars around Leeds and beyond, North formed North Brewing Co. in 2015 to produce beers that were inspired by the great American and European classics that shaped North’s history.
We’ve brewed beers in Berlin, Shanghai and Copenhagen. We’ve brewed beers in Manchester, Cornwall, and down the road with our neighbours in Leeds. We’ve hosted art exhibitions, raised money for charity, worked with indie food traders on their first events, and seen marriages, kids and friendships begin in our bars.
Doubling production year on year, the brewery undertook a further period of significant expansion in 2021, moving to their new home, Springwell – A 21,000 square foot former Victorian Tannery which they converted into a modern brewery and taproom, carefully restoring the building, being mindful of its heritage and creating an incredible workspace and bar.
Expanding the brewing capacity to over 5 million pints, North supplies all of the UK’s major supermarkets, exports to 27 countries and distributes nationwide in the UK, supplying the likes of Wagamama, Rudy’s and Dishoom.
Constantly evolving and energised by an incredible team, North produce a huge range of some of the best beers brewed in the UK from Hazy juicy IPA’s, international collabs, crisp Pilsners, Gluten Free and Alcohol Free beers to a cask range made up of modern twists on traditional styles!
